Traditionally, there are few options when it comes to fonts on a website which you normally needed to use Arial, Times New Roman or one of the other older and somewhat basic fonts. This is why many websites always needed to go with the safe bet, purely because if your website visitor didn’t have the font installed on their computer, then they would not have the ability to browse your website. This was often true with the old browsers also, which place significant limitations on the fonts you could use on a website.

This meant that lots of web designers started to use flash or images at the place of text, because they can use the font they wanted to without having to be concerned about the visitor not being able to see it. You chose the font that you would like to use, add some HTML or CSS code to your website and off you go, which means now you can use the font that you want to use without the stress of the vast majority of your visitors not having the ability to see your website in all of its glory.

This means that rather than the fonts being driven from the pc, they are now pushed to the browser from the fundamental Google Fonts database, which takes any restriction away in regards to using fonts onto your website. This allows you to push any font which you see fit into the user’s devices, allowing you to have your text displayed just as you would like it to be seen, even though your preferences are somewhat strange or whacky.
